poppies

Poppies were the first flowers that I painted, the first being in the mid nineties. I was attracted to the thin crepe like petals and the  way they unfurl from their cocoon like buds. Oil on canvas Dimensions 1.5m by 90cm

The Old Pig Pens.   (and abandoned farm machinery, at Scott Mungo farm - Scone NSW)

Several years ago I went up to Scotts farm to give him a hand and stayed up there for about 4 months, Scone had been dry, but the rains came the day after I arrived. The farm has an array of buildings which are no longer in use, we used to go for walks around the property and the one day came across these old buildings that were from a bygone era, Scott told me that the farm had once been a pig farm, perhaps in the 40's or 50's. Old farm machinery is also scattered around the property, although the majority are in one area, like a graveyard, all slowly returning to the earth. Oil on Canvas 45cm by 45cm

The Dry River Bed (Scone NSW)

The Dry River Bed is one from my own collection and I have had it hanging on the wall for a few years, it is from a series that I painted while staying on a farm (Mungo Scott) in Scone NSW. When I arrived, Scone had been going through a drought, the location of the creek in the painting is at the back of the farm house and borders the Blair Parry-Okeden property, Rockview Station. The rains arrived the following day, and Scone was green once again. The loose broad brushwork takes centre stage in the painting. The painting is framed in a double white bespoke box frame behind glass, a frame that I use on most of my landscape and still life paintings. While the frame isnt new it is in good order. The measurements framed are 45cm sq.
